CFD programmes (Computational Fluid Dynamics) can be used as multi-faceted tools for determining temperature and velocity fields. In contrast to thermal building simulations they guarantee a highly localised solution despite taking less time to implement. Flow simulations are therefore principally used for individual rooms or areas and seldom for whole buildings.
One main field of application is the investigation of ambient air flows. An optimised ventilation concept can be developed using flow simulation which determines the size of the ventilation system as well as the type and position of air intakes and outlets in the area.
What you gain
Guarantee the functioning capability of special building styles (atriums, halls, function rooms, clean rooms etc.) by optimum air flows
Reduce the spread of harmful substances and stay within the permitted
concentration of these
